Chris Kalaboukis, technologist and futurist, is a founding partner of Invention Arts. Chris has worked in product and technology design, development, and innovation programs over the last twenty years.
Prior to Invention Arts, Chris was the Director of Intellectual Property Innovation, and Director of Innovation Programs for Yahoo! worldwide. In that role, he was responsible for internal innovation programs, including building and maintaining systems for the promotion, adoption, and productization of grass roots company innovation. Chris developed unique and fun innovation programs at Yahoo! in order to build new products based on strategic intellectual property: one a program to collect company-wide ideas for near term products and services; and one a “Futurist” program that created a competition for the best product and service ideas for the next decade. Chris managed a number of strategic intellectual property programs simultaneously and developed globally deployed internal software and systems for invention, innovation, and content rights management.
Chris is also prolific inventor, individually and in collaboration with the most talented, inventive groups across the companies he has worked in, developing a large number of patentable inventions in collaborative computing, social media, monetization, product sales cycle, mobile communications, and other emerging areas.
Throughout his career, Chris has been envisioning and developing innovative web applications ahead of their appearance in the greater marketplace through his work in professional services engineering for logistics, manufacturing, software, and telecom companies. As the Manager for Technology Development at Shaw Communications, Chris helped pioneer deployment of broadband content delivery to communities incorporating video streaming technologies and community collaboration features such as groups and local business reviews. As the Managing Director for Engineering & Technology at OnlineFocus Chris developed web-based customer service and self-service, expert answering sites, sales support, and community building and support long before they became web application categories.
